c. 2017, from the Hanyu Pinyin romanization of Mandarin 雄安 (Xióng'ān); a combination of the names of 雄縣雄县 (Xióngxiàn, literally “Xiong County”) + 安新 (Ānxīn, literally “Anxin County”), two of the constituent areas of Xiong'an.
