Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from the Hanyu Pinyin romanization of the Mandarin 西雙版納／西双版纳 (Xīshuāngbǎnnà), from Lü ᧑᧒ᦗᧃᦓᦱ (12pannaa) or ᦉᦲᧇᦉᦸᧂᦗᧃᦓᦱ (ṡiibṡoangpannaa) meaning twelve townships of rice-fields.
