Etymology[edit]
Of Anglo-Celtic origin, the name probably means "babbling brook," from a Celtic base *gar- (“noisy, chattering”), probably related to Proto-Germanic *karō (“complaint, moan”) and Latin garrio (“to babble, chatter”).[1]
