Etymology[edit]
From Old Galician-Portuguese agẽollar, corresponding to a- + joelho + -ar. Compare Galician axeonllar, Spanish ahinojar, Catalan agenollar, French agenouiller, Italian inginocchiare, Romanian îngenunchea.
