Ashkun[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Nuristani *ānnabritá, an old compound with the first part being cognate with Sanskrit आञ्जन (ā́ñjana, fat, ointment), from Proto-Indo-European *h₃éngʷn̥ (butter, fat), and the second from Proto-Indo-Iranian *bʰr̥tás, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰr̥-tó-s (borne, carried), from *bʰer- (to bear, carry); thus literally "fat-borne". Cognate with Kamkata-viri anū́, anév, Waigali ënëvřë.
