Etymology[edit]
From Old Irish baithis, baithes, bathais (“baptism; the order of baptism, the baptismal rite; (by association) crown of the head”) (compare Irish baithis), from Latin baptisma, ultimately from Ancient Greek βάπτισμα (báptisma).
