Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Turkic *dï̄n,[1] whence also Azerbaijani tıncıxmaq (to pant) and dinc (quite, peaceful). Morphologically dinc +‎ -əl. Compare Ottoman Turkish دینجلمك (dincelmek).
