Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Albanian *dūnda, cognate to Old Norse duna (thunderous noise), Ancient Greek θύνω (thúnō, to rush, to dart along), Sanskrit ध्वनति (dhvánati, to sound). Possibly related to tund or onomatopoeic.
