  1. Misspelling of exceedance.
  2. (mathematics, combinatorics) A position in a permutation occupied by a value greater than the position number.
    • 1997, Richard P. Stanley, Enumerative Combinatorics[1], 2nd edition, volume 1, page 23:
      A number i for which π(i) ≥ i is called a weak excedance of π, while a number i for which π(i) > i is called an excedance of π.
