  1. (mathematics)
    1. (intransitive) To use exponentiation.
      In order to solve the equation we must exponentiate.
    2. (transitive) To raise something (a number, or mathematical expression) to a power; to apply an exponent to a mathematical expression.
      Let us exponentiate x to obtain xⁿ.
  2. (computing) To apply a mathematical exponentiation function.
