  1. (mineralogy) A fine grained volcanic extrusive rock, generally light in color, composed of felsic minerals.
    The buff-colored dacites of the Superstition Mountains are felsites.
  2. (geology) Any light-colored volcanic rock whose true mineralogy is not yet determined.
