first conditional (plural first conditionals)

1. (language education, grammar) A structure used to talk about possible events in the present or future, containing an "if" clause (with a verb in the present tense) and a main clause (with the future expressed by will + an infinitive verb).

   "If it rains tomorrow, I will wear my coat" is a first conditional sentence.
