From Ä”e- +‎ rinnan. Literally, "to flow or run together." Cognate with Old High German girinnan, Gothic šŒ²šŒ°š‚šŒ¹šŒ½šŒ½šŒ°šŒ½ (garinnan). Compare German gerinnen.
