Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Ottoman Turkish حقسز یره (ḥaḳsız yere),[1][2] from حق (ḥaḳ) and یر (yer),[3][4] equivalent to hak (“right, justice, truth”) + -sız (without, -less) + yer (“place, ground”) + -e (dative suffix).
