English[edit]

Adjective[edit]

hearing-impaired (comparative more hearing-impaired, superlative most hearing-impaired)

  1. Having some degree of deafness; hard of hearing.
As a result of a childhood accident, my sister was hearing-impaired and had to wear a hearing aid.

Usage notes[edit]

  • Within the deaf community, the terms deaf/Deaf and hard-of-hearing are usually preferred as they do not refer to the condition as an impairment.
