English[edit]
Noun[edit]
high tackle (plural high tackles)
- (rugby) A dangerous form of tackling in which a player tackles above the shoulders.
- 2023 October 28, Leighton Koopman, “YES!!! The Springboks beat the All Blacks to win another Rugby World Cup title”, in Independent Online[1]:
- The game was never going to be won by how good a team attacks, though, but with defence. When captain Kolisi was sin-binned for a high tackle, the Boks could've easily capitulated.
