From Proto-Hmong-Mien *hlaH (moon, month), borrowed from Proto-Tibeto-Burman *s/g-la (id).[1] Compare Old Chinese (OC *ljaːɡ, “evening”), Tibetan ཟླ་བ (zla ba, moon, month).
