From ìjọba +‎ alágbádá, ultimately from ì- (nominalizing prefix) +‎ jọba (to rule) +‎ oní- (one who has) +‎ agbádá (agbada), literally The government of the one who wears the agbada

  • This refers to the fact that many leaders of democratic government's in Africa wear the African attire the agbada, as opposed to the military uniform of military dictators.
