English[edit]

Noun[edit]

lens louse (plural lens lice)

  1. (journalism, slang, derogatory) A person who tries to get into photographs for the sake of publicity.
    • 1956, ABA Journal, volume 42, number 9, page 845:
Not all the lens lice are in front of the camera. The old "front page" tradition still lingers in our business. There are enough bald-headed, cigar-smoking, visor-decked, hard-drinking city editors to keep the legend alive inside the newsroom.
    • 2013, Stuart Palmer, Nipped in the Bud:
Just lens lice for the society photographers.
