Inherited from Proto-Philippine *ləbəŋ (“to bury/dig excavate”), from Proto-Austronesian *ləbəŋ (“to bury”). Compare Kapampangan albang, Asi yubong, Bikol Central lubong, Aklanon eubong, Cebuano lubong, Hiligaynon lubong, Maranao lebeng, and Western Bukidnon Manobo leveng.
