Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish مبهم (mübhem, closed, shut; solid; impenetrable to counsel; dubious, vague),[1][2] from Arabic مُبْهَم (mubham), passive participle of أَبْهَمَ (ʔabhama, to shut/lock, to conceal).[3]
