Non-Sino-Vietnamese reading of Chinese (to be eager, SV: mẫn).

The mắn element as in mau mắn (quick) and may mắn (lucky) are probably unrelated to mắn đẻ, as both words exhibit the regular pattern of -ăn reduplication, deriving from the bases mau and may respectively.
