From Proto-Berber *ənăkkʷ, from Proto-Afroasiatic *ˀanāku, whence also Proto-Semitic *ʾanāku (Arabic أَنَا (ʔanā)) and Egyptian jnk (Coptic ⲁⲛⲟⲕ (anok)).
