Russenorsk[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Russian ну (nu, well) + Russian давай (davaj, c'mon). Probably was mostly used by the Russian speakers, since the interjection ну (nu) has no direct analogy in Norwegian, although it sounds similar to Norwegian interjection no (used e.g. in similar Norwegian phrase kom igjen no).

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /nu dɐˈvaj/ (Russian accent)

Interjection[edit]

no davaj

  1. c'mon, let's
    • No davaj på kajut sitte ne
Let's sit down in the boat cabin
