Etymology[edit]
Ultimately from Proto-Turkic *kïs- (“short, narrrow, to squize”). Cognate with Karakhanid قِسْغا (“qïsɣā”), Turkish kısa, Turkmen gysga, Salar qısga, Crimean Tatar qısqa, etc.
