Derived from gũkũngũra (to reduce to dust).[1]

Pronunciation[edit]

As for Tonal Class, Benson (1964) classifies this term into Class 2 with a disyllabic stem, together with kĩgunyũ, njagĩ, kiugũ, and so on.
