Etymology[edit]
From Vulgar Latin *restuclu < *restucŭlum (compare Portuguese restolho, Spanish rastrojo, Catalan rostoll, Occitan restolh, cf. also southern Italian dialectal restuccio), variant of *restupŭlum (compare Catalan and Occitan restoble), from a verb *restupulāre, from stupula, alteration of Latin stipula.[1]

Restreba is the most common term in northern Galicia for stubble, whilst restrollo is more frequent in the south.
