Etymology[edit]
From ryng (“ring”) + bon (“bone”). Old English hringbān is probably unrelated, as it means "eye socket" and there is a long gap in attestation.
Pronunciation[edit]
Noun[edit]
ryngbon (rare, chiefly Late Middle English)
- Ringbone (equine osteoarthritis in the foot)
- (probably) The cricoid cartilage.
