  1. to feel bad (for); to regret

He felt bad that they stole the cane encrusted with mother of pearl and ivory. It was a gift from Rosita.
  2. to be sorry
    • 2014, Jordi Vilagut Munt, SE7, Punto Rojo Libros, →ISBN, page 88:
“Em sap greu, però no tinc registres de clients tan antics”, va respondre'm tot fent gal·la [sic] d'un gran sentit de l'humor.
"I'm sorry, but I don't have records for such old clients," he responded, showing off a grand sense of humor.

Usage notes[edit]

The person who feels sorry is the indirect object of saber greu, which is normally in the third person singular. Thus, "I'm sorry" is not *Jo sé greu but rather Em sap greu.
