1. (Religion) samana, sramana, a person who has abandoned society and property for religious reasons but does not follow the Vedas

   ဨကဘတ္တိကော သမဏော ဂေါတမော ရတ္တူပရတော ဝိရတော ဝိကာလဘောဇနာ။

   ekabhattiko samaṇo gotamo rattūparato virato vikālabhojanā.

   The gautama monk usually eats only one meal, he abstains from dinner eating.

2. (Religion) ascetic, mendicant, an adherent of similarly austere religious practices in other contexts
3. recluse, any person who similarly abandons society
