schaamsoort f or m (plural schaamsoorten, diminutive schaamsoortje n)

  1. A species of bird a birdwatcher is ashamed to not yet have spotted, generally due to it being relatively common.
    De blauwborst is mijn schaamsoort, ik kan hem maar niet vinden.
    The bluethroat is my shame-species, I just can't find him.
