Finnish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Finnic *seka, possibly from Proto-Uralic *sekä (inside, interior),[1] thus "among" (also see seassa) and later "mixed". The word has (presumably original) front vowels in Võro but back vowels elsewhere.
