squat rack (plural squat racks)

  1. A metal rack or cage consisting of support pillars with adjustable bars and hooks, using for supporting a barbell during heavy weightlifting exercises.

Usage notes[edit]

A squat rack may extend to a height above the lifter, as does the power rack or squat cage, some squat racks are built lower to the ground or do not surround the weightlifter.
