Etymology[edit]

From the verb týna (to lose) + -st (a suffix which turns verbs into middle voice verbs). See also the appendix about the Icelandic middle voice verbs.

  1. to get lost
    Passaðu þigtýnast ekki.
    (lit. watch (out) you (yourself) to get lost not) Watch out not to get lost.
    Ég vil ekkiþú týnist.
    (lit. I want not that you get lost) I don't want you to get lost.
