Particularly: “This cannot be from (shí), because its old (but not extinct) form is khuở (as written in Nôm form 課 in Quốc Âm Thi Tập by Nguyễn Trãi, or in Quốc ngữ form khŏở by Alexandre de Rhodes, which has a completely different consonant. Tày thuở is most possibly a Vietnamese loan.”
