Particularly: “Spelled as Middle Vietnamese tlẽ (/e/ was also often spelled ‹e› instead of ‹ê› in de Rhodes' dictionary, which is why modern bể was spelled as bẻ). The existence of cluster is confirmed by the usage of 礼 to spell this word in Nôm texts. 滯 is really fitting semantically but like some other cases, it's a real problem why these Sinitic-origin words have initial cluster in Middle Vietnamese.”
