Azerbaijani[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Cognate with Crimean Tatar and Turkish usanmak. Has been compared to Common Turkic *osa-, but the narrowing of /*o/ to /*u/ is not typical for Oghuz varieties.[1]

Verb[edit]

usanmaq (intransitive)

  1. to be tired of, to be sick and tired of
    Synonym: bezmək
    • 2017 February 6, Bircə, “Cəhənnəmdən keçmiş mələk”, in Kulis.az[2]:
Bircə şey hələ də zəhləmi tökürdü: anamın şəhərdəki canlı kamerası olan dayım daim məni izləyir, bu gərgin fəaliyyətdən heç yorulub usanmırdı.
One thing still bothered me: my uncle, who was my mother's live camera in the city, was always watching me, and he never got tired of this intense activity.
