  1. (textiles) The border around an individual block of a quilt.
  2. (baking) A test of the texture of bread dough, stretching it out into a translucent sheet.
  3. The situation where the edges of tiles absorb some pigment from the grout used to cement them in place.
  4. A form of leaf damage caused by chewing insects, leaving translucent holes.
