From earlier *tïŋla-w < *tïŋla-ɣu, from Proto-Turkic *dïŋ-la-gu (“listening”). Cognate with Old Turkic 𐱃𐰃𐰭𐰞𐰀 (tïŋla-, “to listen”), Turkish dinlemek (“to listen”), etc.
