Etymology[edit]

From action name *tïŋla-ɣu, from Proto-Turkic *tïŋla- (to listen).[1]

Cognate with Old Turkic 𐱃𐰃𐰭𐰞𐰀 (tïŋla-, to listen), Karakhanid تِنْكْلاماقْ (tïŋlāmāq, to listen), Old Uyghur tynklʾmʾq (tïŋlamaq, to listen), Kazakh тыңдау (tyñdau), Turkish dinlemek (to listen), etc.
