From earlier *tïŋla-w < *tïŋla-ɣu, from Proto-Turkic *dïŋ-la-gu (listening). Cognate with Old Turkic 𐱃𐰃𐰭𐰞𐰀 (t¹iŋl¹a /⁠tïŋla-⁠/, to listen), Turkish dinlemek (to listen), etc.
