From ܢܵܨܪܲܬ (nāṣrat, “Nazareth”) + -ܝܐ (-āyā, the attributive adjective ending); compare Hebrew נוֹצְרִי (notzrí), Arabic نَصْرَانِيّ (naṣrāniyy), نَاصِرِيّ (nāṣiriyy), and نَصْرَاوِيّ (naṣrāwiyy).
