Borrowed from Classical Persian نیک (nek), from Middle Persian 𐭭𐭩𐭪 (nyk /⁠nēk⁠/), from Old Persian *naibakaʰ, from 𐎴𐎡𐎲 (n-i-b /⁠naibaʰ⁠/), from Proto-Iranian *naybah.
