Etymology[edit]
From บัญชี (ban-chii, “account”) + หนัง (nǎng, “skin”) + หมา (mǎa, “dog”); literally "dog-skin account"; from the Buddhist belief that the underworld court records the bad deeds of a living person on an account made of dog skin.[1]
