*(Ø)-yéh₁- (oblique stem *(Ø)-ih₁-)

  1. Forms the optative mood of verbs.

Usage notes[edit]

This suffix was a derivational suffix in early PIE, like for example *-sḱéti. It was affixed directly to roots in the zero grade rather than to verb stems, and was not formed to statives.
