From Latin Serica, from Ancient Greek Σηρικά (Sēriká), from Σῆρες (Sêres, “Seres”) + -ική (-ikḗ), from σήρ (sḗr, “silkworm”), likely ultimately from Old Chinese 絲 (*sə, “silk”).
