@Vahagn Petrosyan This is cool. The cluster խկ is devoiced in WA in this word too. Devoicing also applies for խտ in տախտակ. I can't find any WA words that I know with orthography խպ, but it probably devoices too. Perhaps add a rule to hy-pron to devoice [xb,xg,xd]. Hovsepig (talk) 06:43, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Hovsepig: so ախպար (axpar) is ախփար (axpʻar) in Western Armenian? It doesn't sound right. --Vahag (talk) 07:54, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Vahagn Petrosyan: It is voiceless. I've always heard it voiceless, and it is documented as voiceless in Sarabedoyan. I've also always heard եղբայր produced with a voiceless fricative [jexpajr], never voiced. Though it seems that the recording on եղբայր is using doing [jexbajr] which sounds odd to me; the speaker is likewise adding a pause between syllables which is odd Hovsepig (talk) 07:59, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Hovsepig: I believe you it's devoiced, but it is not aspirated. I added the rule. --Vahag (talk) 08:17, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Vahagn Petrosyan: Ah that's what you mean. FYI as a WA-speaker, I can't hear the difference between aspirated or unaspirated stops :D Hovsepig (talk) 08:48, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
That's what I assumed :) --Vahag (talk) 08:48, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
