See talk:pedobaptist. I've heard the word paedo by itself used to mean a paedobaptist, and could probably find three cites for it. My initial impression was that it was not intended as an insult, simply because just casually throwing out a word similar to "pedo" in an intellectual debate would be so off the map that it couldn't possibly be intended that way. However I may have been wrong. papist is also a religious term and it comes up in intellectual debates and it is definitely derogatory, perhaps because it rhymes with rapist. e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/Reformed/comments/dedpv5/has_anyone_ever_changed_their_views_on_paedo_and/ which uses the term paedo without the slightest hint of it being an insult (one person uses it to describe themselves) and also use of papist by another commenter. Honestly, I cant read minds, so I dont know if theyre all privately laughing or not. Soap 10:16, 23 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
