In fiction:

pon n. (plural pons) is a word the was basically made up and only used in the television series The Man in the High Castle. I guess this is the etymology: From the "pan" part of Japanese, similar-sounding to "pon". The noun "pon" seems to be a racial slur for Japanese people. Why wasn't a well-know word like "gook" or "zipperhead" used? Possibly to highlight the alternative history aspect of the story. --User123o987name (talk) 14:39, 13 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
