My take on the word[edit]

First of all, its ultimate origin is almost certainly from scat singing.

Second, as for its purported use by Gen Alpha outside the context of Skibidi Toilet, it's not a word that Gen Alpha actually uses as a normal word; usage of the word related to Gen Alpha when not referring to Skibidi Toilet is entirely satirical, and any claims of the word having meaning are indeed false in a descriptive sense.

However, its satirical usage may be sufficient to warrant its inclusion on Wiktionary; it's mainly used satirically by Gen Z, but some Gen Alpha-ers may repeat satirical usage of it (such as "sticking out your gyatt for the rizzler, you're so skibidi, you're so Fanum tax"); however, the word's origins of standalone use are in satire, and it would take a while at minimum for the word to be able to possibly gain an unironic meaning.

This is a very interesting and complicated case, but there's my breakdown of it. 23.93.181.240 21:13, 30 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm pretty disconnected from Gen Alpha. I think you're right in that this word originated from scat singing. I remember hearing many old songs that go, "Skibidi-bah-bah da da" etc. Félix An (talk) 02:04, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
"skibbidy" is the most-attested spelling for the earlier scat-singing sense. Archive.org Books, Archive-it.org Web Vuccala (talk) 07:45, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Translations[edit]

Can we verify that these translations are actually used, and not just regularly referred to by the unadapted English word? -saph 🍏 09:57, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Possible Russian origin of the word[edit]

I've recently came across an old Russian video on youtube titled Skibidi Toilet. https://youtu.be/zlsM5u5ZkMw?si=v6h4MerYtXgho1lp

The toilet seems to be boiling in the video and "boil toilet" in Russian is in fact кипятить туалет which sounds very similar to skibidi toilet. This may just be a strange coincidence, but this has intrigued me recently. JamesCook1728 (talk) 00:55, 11 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@JamesCook1728 This video was renamed recently after skibidi was made a thing elsewhere :) just read the description Kiril kovachev (talkcontribs) 14:34, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Popular definition:[edit]

A popular definition that I have found for Skibidi is:

Adj. Bad or negative. Ex. "Will you be my skibidi rizzler?"

Translation to non gen-A: "Will you be my bad boy?"

See the use? I found this definition popular in urban dictionary, as well as the preferred definition of some people who use the word that I have encountered.

Personally, I think it barely qualifies as a word at all and believe it has no meaning. AriPlayz (talk) 03:31, 11 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
